Exclusive Noel Gallager 6th August 1997 phone interview
What we have for you today is an exclusive and unheard Noel Gallagher interview, recorded exactly 20 years ago today (6th August 1997). This was a phone interview recorded by the editor of a now defunct Oasis fanzine called “Must Be The Music”.
In the interview Noel talks about the tracks on “Be Here Now”, why they never played “Hey Now” and “She’s Electric” live around the time, how keyboardist Mike Rowe got involved and Noel’s Beatles collection. There is also mention of an unheard song called “God Will Never Save Your Soul”, his most recently written track at the time of the interview.
As if that wasn’t enough; there will be a second (and arguably better!) unheard and exclusive interview coming up in September – on it’s 20th anniversary – so make sure you follow OasisArchive for more info. That one has unseen pictures to go with it, and was recorded in person.
Feel free to share the recording, but please respect that a lot of hard work (and money) went into making this available. A credit or link to OasisArchive and Oasis Recording Info would be appreciated.
Credits: The tape was found and transferred by Joakim Vrangum here at OasisArchive, and the audio was then remastered by David Huggins from the excellent Oasis Recording Info. We would like to thank David for his great work on improving the audio, and hope to work with him again in the future.
We would also like to thank our good friend Brian Garcia, and James from the awsome Oasis Podcast. Make sure you check that out! Credit also to Nick M. and “Must Be The Music” who conducted the original interview! If you’re out there; let us know mate!
Last but not least; happy birthday to friend and follower William D’Aquila!
